The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the volunteer civilian component of The United States Coast Guard.  We are a service organization founded on the "Four Cornerstones:"

MEMBER  SERVICES,    RECREATIONAL  BOATING  SAFETY,  OPERATIONS  AND   MARINE  SAFETY,   FELLOWSHIP!

    Flotilla Commander's Greeting

Welcome to our website.   We are The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 34, located in Pompano Beach, FL.  We are America's Volunteer Lifesavers, the civilian branch of the Coast Guard family.

The Auxiliary was formed by congressional act in 1939 as the Coast Guard Reserve.  14 U.S.C. 822  It aids the Coast Guard in its non-military, non-law-enforcement tasks, such as search and rescue, aids to navigation maintenance, environmental protection, public boater education, and private and fishing vessel examination.

Teams of Auxiliarists act in these mission areas under Coast Guard orders, and individual Auxiliarists supplement Active Duty and Reserve Coast Guard units.  Auxiliarists under orders operate with the authority and under the direction of the United States Coast Guard.  We wear Coast Guard uniforms with specific devices indicating that we are members of the auxiliary.

Our mission is to assist the Coast Guard in fulfilling all of its goals, in any way that we are qualified and able.   Through training, our members become qualified in various fields, such as:   Communications, Public Education, Vessel Safety Checks,  Boat Crew and Coxswain.

But not everything we do is hard work.  We take part in civic affairs such as the Memorial Day Parade and the Holiday Parade in Pompano Beach, and the Spring Beach Bash in Deerfield Beach.  We also have social activities where members get together just for fun and fellowship.

We invite you to learn more about the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the volunteer opportunities it provides by exploring our website.

Marie E. Duda, Flotilla Commander
